Why does Jyeshtha appear more than once?
Samvat 2083 includes an extra month, Adhika Jyeshtha. In this Purnimanta presentation, the ordinary Jyeshtha readings appear on both sides of the extra-month interval. The table keeps those intervals separate so that a repeated month name does not lose its date range. In the conversion tool, choose the extra-month option when looking up an Adhika date.
The month ranges above are sunrise readings. A tithi can change later that day: on the new-year date, 19 March 2026, New Delhi’s sunrise reading is still Amavasya before Pratipada starts that morning. The published new-year observance and a sunrise label therefore describe different parts of the same day.
Selected festivals during Vikram Samvat 2083
These Hindu observances fall within the North Indian year span. Each row keeps the place and source of the existing festival record; festival dates are separate from government, bank and exchange closures.

When does Gujarati Samvat 2083 begin?
Gujarati New Year 2083 falls on 10 November 2026. The Gujarati year begins with Kartika Shukla Pratipada after Diwali, while the North Indian year changes in Chaitra. Both use the Vikram era, with a different year boundary and lunar-month convention.
| Example date | North Indian Vikram year | Gujarati Vikram year |
|---|---|---|
| 19 March 2026 | 2083 | 2082 |
| 8 November 2026 | 2083 | 2082 |
| 10 November 2026 | 2083 | 2083 |
| 7 April 2027 | 2084 | 2083 |
Diwali on 8 November 2026 falls in North Indian Samvat 2083, while the Gujarati year changes two days later. Read the Gujarati calendar for 10 November for that convention’s month and tithi. Gujarati new-year date reference.
Samvat 2083 is which year in the Modern Calendar / Gregorian calendar?
The North Indian year overlaps 2026 and 2027; it does not match one January-to-December year. Adding 57 after the Chaitra new year, or 56 before it, identifies the North Indian era year. A complete conversion still needs the month, paksha, tithi and regional convention.
For example, 8 November 2026 reads Kartika in the North Indian Purnimanta convention and Ashwin in the Gujarati Amanta convention. The interactive calendar can show either reading against the same civil date.

Month intervals and daily exports are generated from IndiaTime’s existing sunrise-tithi data using Astronomy Engine 2.1.19 and the calendar tool’s stated Lahiri approximation.
