Indian Market Holidays and Trading Sessions

Market hours do not by themselves prove that an exchange is open today. NSE, BSE and MCX publish their own calendars, segment rules and special-session notices.

What to check

Check the named exchange, segment, trading date and official holiday notice. Muhurat Trading, settlement sessions, derivatives expiry and commodity hours can follow separate rules.

Do not confuse holiday categories

A public holiday, bank holiday, government closure and exchange holiday are different records. A festival may be observed without closing every market, and an exchange may announce a special session.
