Quartz or automatic: choose your daily routine

Power source, resetting and servicing matter more than a category’s prestige. Use this comparison to decide which questions to ask of the exact watch you are considering.

Start with how often you wear it

A battery-powered quartz watch generally suits a straightforward grab-and-go routine, while an automatic mechanical watch uses wrist movement to wind its mainspring. An automatic can stop when its stored energy is exhausted. The exact power reserve and restarting instructions belong to the model.

For occasional wear, ask how often you are willing to reset the time and date. For mechanical interest, ask whether the movement and service arrangements are documented. Neither answer has to be the same for every buyer.

Two manufacturer starting points

The Casio AE-1200 specification supplies a stated monthly tolerance and battery life; those are claims for that model. Titan’s automatic catalogue illustrates a different range of movements and designs. Compare the current exact product record, rather than assuming every quartz or automatic shares one specification.

Keep accuracy claims in context

IndiaTime has not measured these watches. A manufacturer tolerance is useful evidence, but it is not our test result. To check your own watch, set a reference reading and compare again after an appropriate interval under similar conditions. Note the clock reference and any resets.

The IST clock labels its server reference or device fallback. Browser and network delay makes it a practical setting aid, not a certification instrument.
