Lunar calendar & regional conventions

The displayed Saka date uses the national solar calendar. A Hindu lunar month or tithi needs a location-specific Panchang.

Which kind of date do you need?

A meeting or journey

Use the civil date and IST. Write 09/10/2026 or 9 October 2026, with the timezone beside the time.

A calendar reading

Saka is a national solar calendar. A Hindu lunar reading also needs the month convention, paksha and tithi.

A closure decision

Use the actual institution’s notice. A festival record does not establish that every branch or office closes.

What do the source labels mean?

Fixed civil date: the date is defined in the civil calendar. Source-checked: compared with the linked reference for its stated scope. Tentative: dependent on an announcement such as moon sighting. Awaiting verification: retained as a labelled reference, excluded from checked exports.

Why are some days or communities empty?

The dataset contains selected records rather than a complete Indian calendar. An empty day means there is no matching record in these filters; it does not mean there is no local observance or that an institution is open.
